The 52nd Western European Fish Technologists Association (WEFTA) Conference 2024 took place in Çeşme-İzmir, Türkiye, from 14 to 18 October under the motto of “Adding value to fish is an investment in the future”. The aim of WEFTA is to serve as an important platform in Europe for institutions engaged in fish processing, applied food science, aquaculture, seafood technology, health effects of seafood consumption and consumer studies. SEA2SEE was presented by Ana G. Cabado, Biotechnology & Health RDI Department, ANFACO-CECOPESCA, with an oral presentation titled ”INTEGRAL CHARACTERIZATION OF THE ALGARVE ARTISANAL OCTOPUS FISHERY”. In her talk, she summarized the main quality aspects, as well as the nutritional and health benefits of the Algarve octopus. Additionally, she explained all the contaminants evaluated and the excellent results obtained in terms of their absence or presence in negligible quantities.
