In the early November, we joined our partners from the University of Aveiro and embarked on an exciting journey to the Algarve to bring Sea2See activities to life.
Focusing on the creation of awareness raising materials for consumers and stakeholders working with consumers, the campaign “A Roadmap of Your Catch” aims to produce a video showcasing the seafood journey from capture to the market.
With the lens of our talented videographer, we traced the fascinating path of Algarve’s iconic octopus — from the open sea to our plate. Here’s a glimpse of our adventure:
🚤 Setting sail with tradition: we joined a local fisher aboard a traditional fishing vessel, witnessing firsthand the skill and dedication behind each octopus catch.
⚓ From catch to market: in Fuzeta, we captured the landing process and the bustling auction where the octopus begins its market journey.
🍴 Savoring the flavor: at the traditional restaurant Casa do Polvo Tasquinha in Santa Luzia, local business dedicated to octopus’ cuisine, we followed the octopus’s transformation into a mouthwatering dish, highlighting the culinary heritage of this beloved seafood.
To enrich the narrative, we also sat down and interviewed three key players in the octopus value chain, uncovering their perspectives on its economic, cultural, and ecological significance.
